Sundersath: Qualities and Values
A Sundersath is one who:
A sundersath is one who is truly committed to the divine cause of jagni--spiritual awakening. He is constantly aware of his spiritual origin, the purpose of life, and the Final Judgement. He is also committed to awake others. This way, he keeps all promises made in the eternal Abode.
He does not see any difference between happiness (sukh) and pain (dukh),
and lives a very simple and ego-less life. He remains constantly
engaged in removing his own blemishes and in adopting other’s virtues.
He finds a true victory in losing - by giving up his ego.
Every time I read these letters, they bring tears in my eyes. Sri Ji’s address to Sundersaths is extremely penetrating, heart softening. In his expression, I can feel all the colors of seasons. I feel windy Fall season in His pain for the hardships to the Sundersaths and Winter in His internalizing of the Divine Wisdom. I can feel Spring in His vision for the glorious crusade for Jagni and Summer in His heat-filled war with Maya, Dajjal, Satan or Devil. These letters remind me of the fact that the fruits of Jagni can not be enjoyed without pain or dukh. The joy of spring can not be experienced without losing the old leaves and taking a beat from snow or ice.
As I read it, I feel as if Sri Ji is talking to me directly. Every
time I encountered Sundersath or Seva related puzzles, I tried to go back
in silence and find my answers from these loving, sobering, guiding, letters.
Dear Sundersathji! Always remember these key principles as you engage
yourself in Seva. Read and re-read as if you are reading it for the
first time. I am confident, our Jagni prayer shall attain perfection
with the practice of these principles.
Principle # 1
Always Keep Our Lord Sri Rajji Ahead of Yourself
(your ego) :
Always keep Raj ji ahead of yourself (your ego), in all your Jagni endeavors.
Give up your false pride.
Never think that ‘I’ have done the great work of bravery. Our
Lord Sri Rajji had just chosen you to give credit for this Seva.
Nothing happens without His Will - His Hukam. Whatever happens is
the fruit of His Divine Grace. Our Lord, NOT US, carries the burden of
Jagni!
Principle # 2
Never think you are alone. Our Lord is
always with you.
On the path of Jagni, never think that you are alone. I promise: “I
am always with you. To protect you, I am standing on one foot, right by
you. Never feel disappointed if your Jagni goals are not achieved as expected.
You may be in any corner of the world, But try to adhere to the values
of your Holy Land, Hindusthan. Keep a positive attitude. Have faith.”
Principle #3
Know Thy #1 Enemy: Maya (Dajjal, Devil, or Satan)
Dajjal (Devil, Maya, or Satan) will try to fight with his own might. But, You fight with Lord's strength and His infinite vision. Just be sure to save the Dajjal’s first attack with the shield of Lord’s grace. Position yourself in such a way that you are not in the direct view of the Dajjal. As soon as you escape his first attack, ounter-attack repeatedly. And, make sure he doesn’t get any opportunity to turn towards you and attack. Dajjal, having only one eye, is blind from the Lord’s side. He can’t see the power of the Lord’s grace. Blinded by his own ego, the death of Dajjal is certain.
To effectively convey your Jagni message, first understand other’s viewpoints. Don’t jump to a conclusion without giving it a proper thought. Listen more and speak less. Always begin by speaking what others want to hear from you. Join their side by acting what others like. Make them comfortable with you. Be one with them, praise them for their positive attributes. Earn their love. Do not begin by focusing on negatives. Then, control them from inside. If necessary, work as a slave for them, show your commitment and dedication. This way, you will be able to send your Jagni message.
Principle #4
Be Assured. Ultimately, the victory is
yours.
O my comrade Sundersath! Ultimately, the victory is yours. Never lose your faith. Please be sure that under the umbrella of Lord's grace, You will grow brighter and brighter each day. As your glory shines through out the world, the Dajjal's strength shall certainly deteriorate each day. Eventually, he will disappear like a dream.
Principle #5
Let Your 'Nijanandi' Character Shine.
Control your nature, your habits and your behavior
Do everything with full awareness and consciousness. Please save my
face. Show your readiness for sacrifice.
Control your nature, your habits and your behavior. Because, you are
linked with the divinely rich family, Because, you are engaged in the process
of Great Awakening.
Just Recall! How glorious you are in your true divine form? How glorious is your Eternal Abode? Hold firmly to that supreme glory. Strive for the virtues that are Paramdham- compatible. Never become burdensome to the world. Let your actions and your speech reflect your true Divine Nature. Be a true Sundersath, a true Nijanandi.
Principle #6
Keep Company of the Genuine People
How to talk with those who make jokes all the time Show sincere respect
to them all the time. Propose respectfully, your readiness to offer wisdom
if interested. Ask for peaceful-quiet time to discuss Always, address them
respectfully Explain from other’s viewpoint, not yours. Do not use fear-tactics
to build faith.
Check if the person is genuine: if he is grasping the truth, will not
ask/expect anything. Do not try forcible conversion—feeding meat 47/58
Principle #7
Be patient. Seek Appropriate Consultation.
Show Your Unflinching Faith. Keep it up.
Never Lose Your Patience In Difficult Moments.
Never lose your patience in difficult moments. Whatever you do, do it
with long term Jagni goals in mind.
Learn to look far. Don’t be shortsighted. Never get confused
and be impatient. Only those guided by Dajjal (maya or Satan) work that
way. Well thought-out work is the work of Lord.
Never act alone on your own. Feel yourself in the lotus feet of Sri Raj Shyamaji. Consult them, keeping divine Sundersath relationship in heart. Come to a common understanding, then move forward for Jagni. Show Your Unflinching Faith.
Don’t lose your faith if something goes wrong. Eventually, all will
go right with Sri Rajji’s grace. This War is all about the Divine Wisdom.
It shall be won solely through unflinching faith. Fight out maya with the
sword of the Divine Wisdom, and with the shield of an unflinching faith.
Keep it up.
You are all as brave as the ‘Lion King.’ The beautiful covering of Tartam
Wani is adding to your kingly glory.
Do not praise anyone falsely just because the person is serving the
high post. But, do continue to communicate until you are on the mission
Keep it up. Show Your Bravery.
Principle #8
Practice Simplicity on your Jagni Tour
Do not expect luxurious treatment when you go out for Jagni. Simple place to stay Simple food, the food offered to the Fakirs, poor beggars Time to talk about God and faith A copy of their book of faith If you don’t get anything, still you show your love and affection
Principle # 9.
Be United: A Good Way to Win Over The Corrupt
Maya
To defeat maya, dance according to the rhythm and music. Do not
hesitate to change, if necessary.
However, ONE UNITED VOICE of all of you is extremely essential.
Maintain focus on your original goal of Jagni. Wait until an opportunity
strikes. Then do, what you have to. Btk: 125-127,129
Principle#10
Never Discontinue Satsung
Having received the lotus feet of the Supreme Lord Sri Prannathji, Now
you don’t need to wander around.
Never discontinue regular satsung. Your work will shine and benefit
all. In their local and personal pride, major holy places will become blind.
To open their eyes, is also your duty. Btk: 47/118
Principle # 11
Read My letter (Pati), Whenever You Need My Guidance.
This letter (Pati) is the guide for all the future Sundersath. Whoever new will come, will come by experiencing your good speech and actions. Therefore, please be careful at every step in your dealings with others.
Principle # 12
Stay awake. Raise Your Voice Against All
Evils
Always Remember what Pran nath ji taught in the City of Surat. Always
stay alert against the influx of any rigid and Narrow-minded rules of religious
conduct and the way of life in our society.
Read with an attitude: "I am Brahmn Srishti Soul. I am communicating with my Lord Sri Raj Shyamaji, as I am reading the Kuljam Swaroop. The Wani of Kuljam Swaroop is awakening me." Our own attitude toward the Kuljam Swaroop is contagious. It will likely become our family’s attitude too.
Respect Sri Prannathji's words as God’s own Words. Let these Holy Words become our practical guide to life. Routine reference to Kuljam Swaroop must become everyday part of your life.
Find examples of good life habits from the Kuljam Swaroop and Bitak Saheb, share and discuss them as often as necessary to reinforce these good life habits: honesty, kindness, saving and using money, telling truth, being faithful, integrity, work ethics, sibling relationships….
Involve both sides of the brain in the Kuljamic process—the left brain for explanations, and the right brain for images and stories. Find Explanations in Kuljam Swaroop. Find images and stories in Bitak Saheb
If you are sharing the Kuljamic teachings with a new sundersath, or say a child, start slowly and build on the teachings. First, talk what Kuljam Swaroop is. What it teaches. What role it has in our private and social lives. Develop practice of using it as an instruction manual for life. This kind of daily access for your own awakening and for the awakening of others keeps Rajji’s Wani working in our hearts and mind.
Regard the teachings of Kuljam Swaroop as absolute truth rather than just an opinion or a philosophical viewpoint. Kuljam Swaroop is a bill of rights (and wrongs). It is right because it comes from Rajji, not because someone else says so. This is our faith.
If you or the audience get bored or begin to lose interest in the Kuljamic process of spiritual awakening, begin to examine your approach or presentation, and make appropriate changes. Insert varieties and relevant excitements.
To understand the real depth of the Wani, listen to more discourses (charcha), particularly by Sarkar Sri. Understand how he made it so interesting for thousands of sundersath around the world.
Kuljam Swaroop is best read and understood in concordance (agreement)
with the events of the Bitak Saheb. Read the Bitak Saheb (Laldas
krit Mahamati's Bitak) translated by Pujya Sarkar Sri or listen to his
complete Bitak Charcha at least once.
As appropriate, discuss or teach the Kuljamic principles by using references
other than the Kuljam Swaroop. You don’t just have to teach with
Kuljam Swaroop in front of you. If the environment demands that one
discuss spiritual awakening from Srimad Bhagvad Gita, do so with the Kuljamic
principles in mind. Give the best of Kuljam Swaroop indirectly so
the person doesn't feel alienated.
Build a regular habit of Kuljam Swaroop reading. It’s not just
entertainment; it’s one of the foundations for a successful life.
One of the best ways to reinforce the value and importance of regularity
in Kuljam Swaroop reading and study is to demonstrate this daily habit
yourself.
Immerse your soul in the joy of Paramdham by practicing Chitwani regularly. This is where we will find answers to our spiritual queries.
To enjoy the real taste of Wani, Read--and Re-read. Re-read as if you are reading it for the first time. Re-read as if you have never read or heard it before. Think deeply over the Holy Words. Experience them working in your life.
To avoid any misinterpretation, focus on the central theme of the chapter. Be mindful of what is being said and to whom exactly. Many chapters and/or chopais (verses) are addressed to a variety of audience other than the Brahmn Srishti Souls. To apply it correctly in your life, you have to know this and its proper context.
Sundersath: Values and Traditions
A true Nijanandi’s vision for life and the world is transformed from materialism into supreme spirituality. How can one write codes and values for a soul in the pursuit of Nijanand? However, because these souls have descended in the human form, they must have certain values with which they use to interact with the society and the world. A true Sundersath, or a Nijanandi, must therefore be committed to meet the scripture-prescribed general qualifications. These include: controlling anger, being truthful in one’s thought, speech and actions, not being greedy for the material wealth, ability to forgive others, controlling sexual desires and having such relationship only with one’s legitimate life partner, being pure-hearted, not being hostile to anyone, living simple, and supporting one’s subordinates.
What is special about the Nijanandi approach is that the Sundersath seek refuge in the lotus feet of the Supreme Lord Shri Raj Shyama Ji to gain strength to attain these qualities. Through the Lord’s grace, a devotee Sundersath learns to divert any of these vices in the direction leading towards Eternal Bliss, rather than wasting all the energy in stopping them forcibly, solely through individual efforts.
For example, the Holy Kuljam Swaroop prescribes to have greed for the Lord’s Divine treasure, to throw the Maya away with anger, to redirect your affections and love towards the Supreme Lord, which is otherwise centered around selfish worldly relationships. As we know from the scriptures, controlling these vices through Yogic techniques have resulted in an ‘ego’ which eventually throws an individual away from his goal of spiritual uplift. For their success, the souls seeking Nijanand should, therefore, keep the Lord’s grace at the center-point of all, rather than their sole individual efforts.
A special note of some of the following Nijanandi values should also
be made based on the Holy Kuljam Swaroop and Bitak Saheb:
Contrary to the common practice of putting traditions and customs on the list of primary importance, true Nijanandis regard them of secondary importance. They believe that the traditions and customs must not negatively impact the true spititual values. Although many variations can be found in traditions, an awakened Sundersath always attempts to check if their traditions and values are synergistic to each other. Often, depending on their region or culture, large variations can be found in the traditions of the Faith. Here, we will only discuss some of the key Nijanandi traditions that are almost uniformly observed throughout the Faith.
Temples: The Holy Kuljam Swaroop is worshiped by Sundersath in all temples.
The Supreme Lord Prannath, being seated on the throne in the form of Holy
Kuljam Swaroop, the temple is named ‘Prannath Mandir.’
Symbol: A symbol of the Right Hand Palm is used throughout all
Prannath Temples, and also on flags hoisted during various celebrations.
Five fingers of the hand represent the Five Divine Powers of the Supreme
Lord Prannath, which manifested in this world through Mahamati.
It would be interesting to note here that the symbol of the right palm is also utilized as Panja Saheb by Sikhs, the followers of Guru Granth Saheb. Believers of Islam also use the same symbol as the sign of Imam Mehndi on the white horse. They display this symbol promptly on the occasion of the festival of Muharaam. In a nutshell, the entire symbol can be regarded as signifying the Supreme Lord’s blessings.
Parayana: Recital of the Holy Words of Kuljam Swaroop is called Parayana. Sundersath devotees read and recite the parayana of holy Kuljam Swaroop on different occasions, listen to discourses on Kuljam Swaroop and Bitak Saheb, and practice "Chitwani"- a way of meditation through which they enable their souls to rise to their spiritual Nijanand form.
Greetings: In any faith or belief, there is a unique way of Greetings
or Praizing. In Hindu tradition of worship, it is called Jaikara.
The devotee Sundersaths sing the Jaikara loudly during the worship.
Among the many variations, the most common Jaikara recited in temples and
places are, in order:
Before initiation into the faith, a person is asked to adhere to the above listed Sundersath Values. A devotee is asked to recite a six-versed Tartam Mantra. By reciting Tartam, a seeker soul confirms his or her relationship with the Supreme Lord and commits to the cause of spiritual awakening (Jagni).
Places of pilgrimage: In addition to the holy places connected with their initiation, the devotee Sundersath also visits these three holy places of pilgrimage because of their historical significance discussed earlier: Nautan Puri (Jamnagar, Gujarat), Maha Mangal Puri (Surat, Gujarat), and Padmavati Puri (Panna, Madhya Pradesh).
Sundersath celebrates these festivals:
